The World Championships in Daegue representented a huge shift in athletics broadcasting as Channel 4 became the National broadcasters of the sport with a deal that encapsulates the next two world championships.

Our role was to deliver the athletics presentation of the website, and be responsible for editorial control and delivery.

Managed by the technical delivery team, Deltatre, we created page designs to add a new edge to athletics coinciding with the their broadcasting approach, adopting a high impact visual approach (aided by the abundant Getty Images library).

The design was a two stage process;
  1. A pre championships build of engaging content design, module design and identity.
  2. And a “live design” were the website would transform in its message according to performances in the championships, and in particular the relation to the progress of the British Team.

The design process was extended through to content delivery, as 13 Strides had team members in the stadium reporting on the Championships, feeding back to a content production team in the UK who were curating content and presenting day to day action via articles, imagery, social media and the interactive DIVA media player.
