New-look Training Room offers lots more

The Training Room is an integral part of the Take to the Streets campaign, which aims to have two million more people actively participating in sport by 2012.

The accent is on running, swimming and cycling – with more sports to be added as time goes on.

The relaunch of the new-look Training Room website proved a fascinating and highly challenging project for us at 13strides.

The site, which was originally designed by 13strides, needed to be completely overhauled and updated and offer a state-of-the-art digital environment dedicated to ensuring people get the most from their sports training.

The site is an integral part of Take to the Streets, a national campaign that aims to get two million Britons active by London Olympics year of 2012. 13strides also had the privilege of working on the Take to the Streets website.

Over the next three years, Take to the Streets will be hosting a network of events up and down the country with something for everyone – from running to walking, swimming to dance displays and even gym challenges.

The Take to the Streets website spearheads the campaign as a whole, with the stated aim of motivating more people to get fit and healthy while enjoying sport – Training Room is there to help them along every step of the way to achieving their goals.

It’s also there to help motivate people to take part in mass participation events, particularly those organised by the client, Nova international.

Training Room features a raft of impressive tools designed to do just that, such as:

• Map Tracker – allows participants to create a series of unique training routes;
• Forum – a lively online community that is perfect for sharing experiences and finding advice;
• Great Trainer – a device to help participants keep track of their training on their mobile phone;
• Training Advice – loads of information on everything from training tips to avoiding injuries;
• Training Diary – a tool that enables participants to build a complete picture of every facet of their training;
• Training Schedules – personalised training plans that will safely guide participants to their goals.

We are delighted with the way the Training Room now looks as well as the depth of information provided and the quality of the different tools.

In many ways, Training Room represents something of a watershed for us at 13strides as it is one of the most complex pieces of work that we have so far undertaken.

It has to work as a marketing tool that will effectively drive business to the client’s event sites – Great Run and Great Swim in particular – and measurably increase the numbers participating, and also act as a one-stop help and guidance resource that is second to none in world sport.

These are lofty ambitions but ones that both the client and its customers deserve and quite rightly expect.
